Rachel Hutchinson brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate spirit to her role as a Legal Secretary/Assistant at Wosskow Brown’s Barnsley office. With a diverse background in legal administration and a genuine passion for supporting clients, Rachel plays a crucial role in assisting Senior Solicitor Sonia Hume-Dawson in the Personal Injury Department, particularly in handling multi-track cases.

Rachel’s journey in the legal profession began straight out of school, where she embarked on a path of full-time employment. For 13½ years, she honed her skills as a secretary at two reputable law firms in Barnsley, gaining invaluable experience in various aspects of legal administration. Seeking new challenges and opportunities, Rachel ventured to the bustling city of Sheffield, where she continued to expand her expertise until late 2022. It was then that Rachel returned to her roots, joining the Wosskow Brown team in Barnsley.

Before her tenure at Wosskow Brown, Rachel demonstrated her dedication and versatility by working her way up from an office administrator to a legal assistant, specialising in Personal Injury, Industrial Disease, and Clinical Negligence Law. She also gained exposure to family law during her tenure at one of the law firms, further diversifying her skill set.

In her current role, Rachel provides invaluable support to Senior Solicitor Sonia Hume-Dawson, assisting in the handling of multi-track cases in the Personal Injury Department. These cases encompass a wide range of scenarios, including recovering damages for clients affected by medical negligence, individuals who have sustained brain injuries due to assaults or serious road traffic accidents, and those injured in workplace accidents, among others.

What sets Rachel apart is her caring and empathetic nature, which shines through in her interactions with clients. She finds immense fulfilment in the meaningful connections she forms with clients and takes pride in providing them with the support and assistance they need during challenging times.

Outside of work, Rachel leads a balanced life filled with diverse interests and commitments. A dedicated gym-goer with a passion for weight training, she also cherishes her moments of relaxation on lazy days. Rachel’s love for her family is evident in the time she spends with them, as well as with her cherished pet tortoise and cockatiel. Additionally, Rachel is deeply committed to giving back to her community, volunteering as a Listening Volunteer for Samaritans since 2023 and serving as a Team Leader in their Outreach Team.
