The Year of the Dragon - Chinese New Year in Sheffield

Dragons, pandas and vivid dresses. Chinese New Year in Sheffield kicked off in style.

The year of the dragon was welcomed by a culmination of traditional food and variety performances at the Sheffield City Hall on Monday. With many turning out to witness spectacular performances including a team of acrobatic pandas, rollerblading stunts and face changing. Yes - Chinese cultural performance really is a breathtaking sight to behold.

Arguably, the highlight of the evening belonged to a team of straw hat jugglers. The act featured high precision acrobats who turned simple straw hats into a fabulous display of skill, balance and agility.

The year of the dragon brings with it a wealth of good fortune. Dragons born in 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 are abundant in dominance and ambition and should therefore see a fruitful year in job or business.

The New Year celebrations continue with a cultural show on January 29th in the Montgomery Theatre, Surrey Street.
