Wosskow Brown Raise Over £1000 for St Luke’s Hospice
Back in April, St Luke’s Hospice did a ‘Make a Will Month’, due to the importance of making a Will, and the fact that 60% of British people still don’t have a Will.
The Sheffield-based Hospice decided to team up with local law firms to make it easier for people to make a Will, raising funds for their patient care too.
Jack Kidder, St Luke’s Fundraising Manager, said: “Making a Will is the only way you can be sure that your wishes are carried out and your loved ones are provided for after your death.”
We are proud to have been part of this great cause, helping people with their Will and getting donations from people.
In total, we raised a massive £1410 for St Luke’s Hospice during Make a Will month in April.
Maddalena Proctor, Office Manager at our Gleadless Road branch, and Taiba Choudhry, Solicitor at our Abbeydale Road branch, took care of writing the Wills throughout April.
Maddalena said: “It’s an honour to yet again support the excellent cause of St Luke’s by participating in the Free Wills month that they are running. We hope that the money raised with our help goes towards making life a little easier for the fantastic staff and patients of St Luke’s.”
Taiba and Maddalena drew up basic Wills in return for donations to St Luke’s. The clients simply made appointments with us, gave us their instructions and left their donations with us
Jack has spoken of his gratitude to us, on behalf of the hospice, regarding the work and help we have done for them.
“The funds we raise from Will Month provide a vital element of our annual funding and we are truly grateful for your support”, he said.
It is important that the hospice is able to generate funds from a variety of sources because only 24% of their funding comes from the government.
It costs £1,073 per hour to run St Luke’s Hospice and it operates 24/7, helping around 1,800 patients and their families each year. The proportion of this hourly cost that St Luke’s need to raise themselves is a significant £788.
Wosskow Brown’s Head of CSR, Louise Brown, said: “We think it’s important that we do all we can for each of the charities we support, and we’re delighted to be able to help St Luke’s Hospice this way.”
It is clear that this amazing local hospice needs funding support and we are happy to be helping them. However, as you can see, the amount they require to keep up the great work they do is much more than we managed to raise in April, and we’d like to do more for them. If you can think of any way in which you can help, St Luke’s Hospice would appreciate it vastly. Whether it be personally donating some money, starting a fundraising campaign, or any other method of raising funds- every donation helps.
